Running along forest paths and road sections (gravel and tarmac), this trail from Ähtäri Zoo to the Arpainen cabin takes you across varied landscapes. Some stretches in Porrasuo and Heinä-Arpainen consist of duckboards. The first part of the trail contains three rest places along Niemisjoki within 1.5 km of each other (Nuutinkoski hut, Ohrakoski hut and Ohrakoski lean-to). The Saarinen lean-to is located about halfway along the route.
