Art by Bike is a circular route that offers something for everyone: art, shopping opportunities and beautiful nature. You can find a wide range of places to stay along the route. The route takes you to Kuortane, Alavus, Ähtäri and Lehtimäki and does a little detour to Soini.
The art destinations along the route include Soile Yli-Mäyry’s Art Hall in Mäyry, Art Gallery Harri in Alavus, the Pirkanpohja Art Centre in Ähtäri, Studio Sari Haapaniemi in Lehtimäki, Alajärvi, and Reijo Kivijärvi’s Art Studio in Soini. You should check the opening hours on each destination’s website although most of the galleries are open every day in summer.
The route also offers great nature sites to visit, such as the Sarvikas rapids located in the village of Ylijoki in Kuortane. The five rapids are located along a 3.6 km stretch of the river. Fishers in particularly will find the area an interesting place to stop. One of Finland’s largest shopping centres, Tuuri Department Store, is located along the route. In addition to the department store, numerous specialist shops are located in the vicinity. Tuuri also offers a variety of accommodation options, including converted train cars. The terrain along this route gently undulates and is slightly hillier than the areas in the western part of South Ostrobothnia. In addition to villages and towns, the route runs across farmland and wooded areas.
