Located amidst a landscape of national value in the Hyypänjoki River Valley, the Katikankanjoni canyon consists of three ravines with steep sides carved through sandy heaths alongside streams. The trail follows the streams, climbing occasionally on top of the sand ridge created when the streams eroded the soil around it. While the trail is challenging in places, the rewards in the form of atmosphere and scenery are ample. It is a true pearl of South Ostrobothnia. A lean-to and toilet facilities are located near the trail’s starting point. While the trail is part of the Kauhaneva-Pohjankangs routes, it is located separately from them. The trail is one of the Lauhanvuori-Hämeenkangas UNESCO Global Geopark’s main routes.
