Lappajärvi Summer Theatre – our story
The Lappajärvi Summer Theatre’s foundations were created about 77 million years ago when Southern Ostrobothnia was hit by a large meteorite. On impact, Europe’s largest crater lake – Lappajärvi – was created. A stunning island, Halkosaari, which has over the years become a popular venue for dances and other entertainment, emerged in the northern part of the lake.
It also hosted Finland’s second oldest rock festival, Tulivuorirock. In the early 1990s, the festival’s main stage began to serve as the stage for the summer theatre and a 700-seat covered stand was built on the slopes. The stand’s plastic seats are equipped with a back rest, ensuring comfortable conditions for the audience enjoying our performances, which primarily feature comedies and musicals.
At the Lappajärvi Summer Theatre, you can leave your day-to-day worries behind and enjoy great entertainment that is guaranteed to bring a smile to your face.
Here, you have ring-side seats to high-quality summer theatre performances and beautiful scenery, with the experience completed by the services offered by our restaurant.
