Located amid the Ostrobothnian pains, Simpsiö Ski Centre is the largest multi-slope ski centre in western Finland. This versatile centre in Lapua offers winter sports activities to suit all tastes.
Simpsiö offers ski lifts and six slopes that range from a larger, more challenging slope to an easier one that suits children. Accomplished skiers will enjoy the ski rails and boxes. In addition, there is a K-55 ski hill. The elevation at Simpsiö is 90 metres and the centre’s longest slope measures 600 metres.
Beginners can develop their skills on a free rope-lift slope. In addition, visitors can try out a wide range of other activities: children always enjoy the thrill of sledging, and cross-country skiers have access to an illuminated 10-kilometre ski trail.
The centre pays special attention to safety and strives to offer pleasant surroundings to visitors. Its high-quality rental equipment ensures that everyone can enjoy a safe and pleasant time on the slopes. Instructors are also on hand to offer assistance throughout the season.
Situated amid the stunning scenery on the slope of Simpsiö, Restaurant Taivaanpankko serves delicious snacks and tasty meals. The restaurant can also be hired for private use. In addition to Taivaanpankko, the centre has three open huts where visitors can grill their own food.
Simpsiö Ski Centre also offers a wide range of activities outside the winter season: the area boasts numerous nature trails. In addition to these signposted trails, there are cross-country cycling routes and an orienteering route with fixed control posts. The new 18-hole frisbee golf course, which meanders its way through the woods, meets national championship standards, and visitors can put their fitness levels to the test on our new exercise stairs. In autumn, the forests are full of wild mushrooms and berries just waiting to be picked. Visitors can also admire views over the area from a viewing tower.
Accommodation is available in cosy cottages, while Apartment Hotel Simpsiönkullas is ideal for longer stays. Both locations are within close walking distance of the ski slopes and cross-country ski trails.
