Guided tours

Seinäjoki’s spacious administration and cultural centre is architecturally unique in the world. Alvar Aalto’s organic architecture is characterised by closeness to nature and free lines. A guided walking tour led by a Seinäjoki or site guide in the Alvar Aalto Centre, where buildings visited will include, among others, the Lakeuden Risti Church and Seinäjoki City Hall. Along with buildings designed by Aalto, we will also see the architecturally spectacular Apila library, completed in 2012, which is located right next to the Aalto Centre and is connected to the Aalto library by a walkway.

The observation deck of the Tower of the Cross of the plains, designed by architect Alvar Aalto, offers views over the city and all the way to the lakes. A guided tour from the tower provides a convenient way to hear the whole story of the city, from old times to the present day. The tower tour is also a convenient alternative to a traditional city tour.

Seinäjoki is the idyllic centre of the rural South Ostrobothnia region.
